MPR client acquitted of conspiracy to defraud at Southwark Crown Court

  • Posted

MPR solicitors LLP were instructed to represent a professional client charged with several counts of conspiracy to defraud with 5 others in the largest Access to Work fraud prosecuted by the CPS Specialist Fraud Unit for the DWP- Operation Aguilar. The case involved complex and voluminous amounts of paperwork and took approximately 2 years to come to trial. There were approximately 40,000 pages of prosecution evidence to analyse and digest much of it of a financial nature.

Success in the case was due to meticulous case preparation and a unified defence team which was led by Abdullah Al-Yunusi a senior barrister specialising in Serious and Complex Fraud and Seema Parikh, Managing Partner at MPR solicitors.

The lead defendant in the case was unanimously convicted and now faces lengthy and complex Proceeds of Crime Act proceedings in excess of £2 million.

Our client was over the moon and can now resume her life which had been put on hold for 2 years.
