MPR Solicitors instructed in historic child abuse case

  • Posted

The Firm’s Serious and Complex Crime Team have been instructed to defend an individual in London charged with numerous counts of sexual abuse on a minor dating back some 15 years. The case will involve complex issues of false memory syndrome and psychiatric issues.

The team was chosen for its expertise in defending historic child abuse cases and was one of the first firms in the country to be instructed in cases arising out of Operation Yewtree and the Jimmy Saville enquiry.

MPR defence solicitors will always act in the best interests of the client and we are known for our strategic advice. We treat our clients with respect, dignity and understanding and are alive to sensitive issues these types of cases give rise to.

Recently MPR expert defence solicitors have been instructed to defend a number of cases involving allegations of a sexual nature including a double rape in London, Sexual Assault of a minor in the Midlands, Possession of indecent images, voyeurism, and offences under the Obscene Publications Act.

What often clients are unaware of are the draconian restrictions that can be imposed upon them in the event of a conviction and their automatic registration onto the Sex Offenders Register for something as minor as being a peeping Tom in a public venue. That is why it is crucial to have expert legal advice at an early stage in any enquiry and we specialise in giving pre-charge advice to clients which can often put an end to the police investigation with no further action or certainly no charges being laid.
