MPR specialist sexual offences solicitors force CPS to retreat and formally offer no evidence against a client in a rape case. The case involved complex issues of forensic DNA/transfer of semen and back calculation of when alcohol had been consumed. After securing expert reports from leading forensic scientists and chiselling away at the prosecution case, we were able to convince the Crown Prosecution Service that they had little prospect of securing a conviction and should drop the case. The CPS conceded and our client was formally acquitted without having to undergo a jury trial. He can now try and get his life back together. Our client was also awarded costs from Central Funds.

The case was successfully prepared by our serious sexual offences team based at our Hounslow Solicitors office and for trial our client was represented by Abdullah Al-Yunusi, the Firm’s Senior Partner and Barrister.
