Sapna Shah

Barrister & Family Law Mediator

Sapna is a barrister with over 25 year’s experience as a courtroom advocate as well as litigator. Having cut her teeth in the world of criminal litigation both defending and prosecuting , conducting jury trials she turned her attention to family law 15 years ago and now focusses on all aspects of relationship breakdown, with a particular specialism in private children law.

Described by her clients as tenacious with an ability to drill down and extract fine and crucial detail, Sapna brings her own usp to her clients as she has authorisation to handle all case work and litigation, so she can take a matter from beginning right through to court, if necessary.

Sapna is driven by her goal to constantly look for innovative ways to advance her clients’ rights and interests, whether that be via an outside the box approach or, by fearlessly advancing her client’s case in court. Passionate about her work, she quickly builds up a solid relationship of trust and confidence with her clients.

She has been described very recently by an opponent as ‘simply brilliant’ in her non-hostile approach to skilfully settling a serious matter without taking it to final hearing and thereby saving both parties thousands in legal fees.

Sapna’s focus is always to start with pragmatism at the forefront. Using her skills learned whilst training as a Mediator, she aims first to resolve matters amicably, though is ready to take the gloves off if that time comes. She is resolution accredited with a specialism in private children law and advocacy applications.

Sapna’s work includes

  • Child Arrangement Orders, including Leave to Remove from the jurisdiction
  • Family Law Act proceedings, Non-Molestation Orders and Occupation Orders
  • Pre-Nuptial Agreements
  • Financial Remedy Applications
