MPR’s specialist fraud team have been instructed to defend in a large-scale serious VAT fraud in Birmingham Crown Court. Operation Janitor is an alleged conspiracy to cheat HMRC of millions of pounds involving 28 Defendants. The case is likely to be split into 3 trials with the first starting in 2014. With 28 Defendants all charged with conspiracy, the multi-stranded case will require a team of dedicated support staff to assist in analysing the voluminous case papers headed by MPR’s Fraud Expert Mr Abdullah Al-Yunusi who is a senior barrister and Head Of Regulatory and Tax at MPR Solicitors LLP.
