MPR Client acquitted at Kingston Crown Court on conspiracy to steal £1.7M super cars

Our client was charged with a large-scale conspiracy to steal luxury supercars from around London and the South East with 6 others over an 12 month period. The case papers were voluminous and the Crown also claimed to have CCTV which in their view was strong evidence to implicate our client within the conspiracy. They alleged that some of the CCTV actually showed our client gaining entry to some vehicles and driving them away.

Our client vigorously denied the charge and we prepared the case meticulously on that basis. We soon discovered that there were evidential gaps within the Crown’s case and due to a number of omissions by the Crown, we were able to successfully argue that the CCTV could not be used in evidence at the trial. The case collapsed against our client and the Crown had no alternative but to offer no evidence in the case. Our client was the only defendant in the case to have been acquitted.

MPR solicitors have vast experience of defending conspiracy cases involving drugs, money laundering, firearms, burglary, robbery. Our Managing Partner who heads the Firm’s Complex Crime Team has written a short article on defending conspiracy cases which you can read: Defending In Conspiracy Cases
